Papenfuse Wins Huge Primary Upset in Harrisburg

Mayoral candidate Eric Papenfuse shocked the city of Harrisburg, PA. yesterday when he won the Democratic Primary after a long battle against an incumbent Mayor and City Controller Dan Miller. Just weeks ago, polls had Papenfuse in third place with only 19% of the vote; three points behind Mayor Linda Thompson and 27 points behind Dan Miller. Despite daunting polling results, the final results showed Papenfuse winning with 38% of the vote, defeating both Miller (32%) and Thompson (28%) in what The Patriot News called, “the most hotly contested Harrisburg Mayoral race in 30 years.”

“We want to congratulate Eric Papenfuse on an astonishing win and for running such a great campaign. He’s a rising star,” said Julian Mulvey, “When Tad and I formed Devine Mulvey, our first campaign was for the Prime Minister of Ireland, Bertie Ahern, who was considered a long shot to win his third term. When he won, newspapers called it the greatest comeback in Irish politics. With the start of Devine Mulvey Longabaugh, we’re excited that our new firm’s first race and first win had a similarly long shot.”
